1. Differentiated Learning Assignment
Differentiated instruction is when an instructor varies her teaching to create the best learning experience possible for the student. Currently I am differentiating instruction by allowing students to pick how they would like to present their presentation on Alcohol, Tobacco, or a drug. Students had the option of a technology based project, a skit, a pamphlet or newsletter, or a report. I also present notes to the class in various ways. I create Google presentations, I provide notes verbally, and I utilize classroom "newsletters."
2. Diverse Learning Assignment
There were so many great ideas to support struggling readers. One that caught my attention was "Talking Text." A colleague just informed the staff of a text-to-speech app to assist our learning disabled students, students with IEPs, and students who struggle with reading. Talking Text (text to speech) supports learners by
* providing differentiation through audio access to text.
* offering reinforcement of both print and oral reading.
* being utilized in a whole class situation, with groups, or with individuals.
* supporting comprehension and students with reading disabilities.
3. Universal Design for Learning Assignment
A content area resource for my classroom is "Multiple Means of Engagement.
This content area will support teaching and learning in my classroom because I have learned that there is not one means of engagement that will be optimal for all students. Students are provided with multiple means of engagement through collaboration, communication, creation, presentations, and technology that is tailored to their needs and comfort level. This enhanced the learning environment and their motivation to learn.

4. Text-to-Audio Conversation Assignment
This is an awesome tool. We have a text to audio app on our computers at school. It is great for students with IEPs or who require accommodations for assignments and testing. For students that require that tests be read out loud to them the "Natural Reader" converter is a great tool and a wonderful asset to the classroom. All the student would have to do is type what they want read to them or the teacher could save the text to audio file and have students open it and read to them anywhere they have computer/Internet access.
