SCREENCAST-O-MATIC: ELEMENTS OF FITNESS
I showed the screencast-o-matic to my students as part of my instruction to educate and assist them in calculating their body mass index. The students loved the video. They thought it was a fun, clever, and exciting way to deliver instruction from our usual lessons. Many of them laughed hearing my voice on video. The students were engaged, motivated, and on task during the short video. Many of them are eager to use this feature during our group work presentations on physical activities and fitness. Through redefinition students were learned important concepts, communication occurred, and students asked questions and discussion was generated. As a follow up to the short screen-o-matic students discussed,
1. How eating habits and physical activity habits affect weight
2. Describe ways to maintain a healthy weight
3. Identify some positive and negative ways our attitudes towards body weight are influenced by television, movies, and other media.
4. How to reach appropriate weight in healthy ways.
Some ways I can improve my next recording is to include the discussion questions throughout my recordings to add to a more interactive lesson.
